Calorie Calculator
Estimate your BMR and daily calorie needs (TDEE). Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is ever uploaded.
What can you calculate?
CalorieCheck estimates your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE). The calories you burn at rest and in a typical day. From your sex, age, height, weight, and activity level, in metric or imperial units.
Ever wonder how exact a calorie count really is? Read Why Calorie Counts on Labels Are Approximate, Not Exact.
How it works
Every calculation runs directly in your browser using the Mifflin-St Jeor equation. Nothing is sent to a server, so it works even offline once the page has loaded.
Frequently asked questions
Is this free to use?
Yes. There's no sign-up and no limit on how many calculations you run.
Do you store what I type?
No. Every calculation happens entirely client-side in your browser. See the privacy policy for details.
What's the difference between BMR and TDEE?
BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) is roughly the calories your body burns at complete rest just to stay alive. TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) is BMR multiplied by an activity factor, giving a fuller estimate of what you burn in an average day including movement and exercise.
What formula does this use?
The Mifflin-St Jeor equation, published in 1990 and widely regarded as more accurate for most people than the older Harris-Benedict formula. Like any formula based on population averages, it's an estimate, not a measurement of your individual metabolism.
