How is reading time calculated?
Reading time assumes an average silent reading speed of 200 words per minute; speaking time assumes an average speech rate of 130 words per minute.
How are sentences and paragraphs counted?
Sentences are split on ".", "!", or "?". Paragraphs are split on blank lines. Both are approximations — as with any automated text tool, unusual formatting or abbreviations can shift the count slightly.
