What is lorem ipsum, and why is it used?
It's scrambled, garbled Latin derived from a first-century BC text by Cicero, used as placeholder text since at least the 1500s because its familiar letter shapes and word lengths look like real text without the reader getting distracted by actual meaning. Useful for previewing a layout's typography and spacing.
